Cribbs on the mend

Joshua Cribbs did not practice Friday, but has not been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Two-time Pro Bowl kick returner Joshua Cribbs missed Friday’s practice and is questionable for Sunday afternoon’s game with the Carolina Panthers at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Quarterback Colt McCoy, linebacker Scott Fujita and defensive back Eric Wright also missed practice Friday. Fujita has been ruled out for Sunday, while McCoy and Wright are doubtful.
Defensive back Mike Adams, linebacker Eric Barton, tight end Benjamin Watson and defensive linemen Kenyon Coleman and Shaun Rogers were limited and joined Cribbs as questionable. Offensive lineman Floyd Womack was able to take part in all of practice and is probable.
“He did some good work yesterday,” Browns coach Eric Mangini said of Cribbs. “It wasn’t on the practice field, but part of the rehab. We are going to see where he is today, kind of up the work a little bit, but not necessarily on the practice field. If that works out, he should be pretty good for Sunday.”
Though Mangini is expecting Cribbs to return to the field, the sixth-year professional’s workload may be decreased.
“I think that’s a starting point for us, kicks and punts and then we’ll see where he is with receiver play and Wildcat and stuff like that,” said Mangini. “With Josh, if he’s playing, you know he’s going to want to play everything all the time. He’ll want to run down the kicks; he’ll want to do it all.
“It probably won’t be the same volume that he would normally get, but we’ll try to target some things for him,” he added. “Now, if it’s going well and he feels good and there are no setbacks, it may increase as the game goes on. I’d first like to get him to the game and have a real plan for what he is going to do in the game. Hopefully, we make sure we get that. Then, as the game is unfolding and it feels good, we could potentially increase it.”
The Panthers practiced without safeties Marcus Hudson and Jordan Pugh, guard Travelle Wharton and running back Tyrell Sutton. All of those players were listed as doubtful for Sunday.
Quarterbacks Tony Pike and Brian St. Pierre were limited, while fellow signal-caller Jimmy Clausen, cornerbacks Chris Gamble and Captain Munnerlyn, running back Jonathan Stewart and wide receiver Brandon LaFell had full participation. Those seven players were probable following Friday’s practice.
