Browns and Panthers---My Take
by Unknown
It seems everyone is favoring the Browns over the Panthers--some by as much as 10 (Or Greater) points. Now granted the Panthers have a pitiful record and have been hampered by numerous injuries, as have the Browns, but I was be wary of them none the less. The Browns showed a few glaring weaknesses is the outing against the Jags. It should be evident now to anyone playing the Browns, that if you stop Hillis, the game is in the hands of our QB, which given the performance of our receivers--is not a good thing.
Colt Mccoy is out--due to the dreaded ankle sprain that he received when our offensive line was man-handled and collasped repeatedly, allowing Colt to be Rushed, Sacked and hurried on numerous plays. This lack of protection gives little time for a receiver to get open, and little time for the play to unfold. The O-Line must have a better game against the Panthers--Jake is starting--not so mobile, and given his ability to throw INT's, with little time and to receivers that cannot get open--a ticket for disaster. The short routes to Watson and Moore would seem to be the best approach--which I still do not understand Moore's limited play. A heavy dose of Hillis and on occasion Vickers trotting out of the backfield would be a good changup also. This approached used with a steady dose of Hillis pounding his way through (Provided the O-Line holds up), should eat the clock (Not that I'm all that leary of Clausen), and allow high percentage passes over the middle.
The Defense has play great in the last few games, getting a great number of turnovers. Haden and T.J. Ward are stepping up to the plate and showing why they were wonderful draft pics. However the defence has also (At the worst possible times) given up the big plays due to lack of tackeling. The Panthers are not an Offensesive juggernaut, however they will score if you give it to them.
My Take---Carolina will be chomping at the bit to get ahold of Jake. They also have seen enough to know stopping Hillis is priority number one. They will make Jake beat them through the air--in the end---Dawson gets another one.
