When I received this "late breaking news" via a tweet, I quickly went on over to the article so that I might pass this info on to my readers.

It amazed me that the weekend before a match-up with the Steelers, the Browns would release--or leak out--such information. Given the fact that the source supposedly was the Associated Press, this article titled "Report: Eric Mangini Out, Mike Holmgren In As Cleveland Browns Coach" had to be credible.

My desire to pass-on news to my readers, and keep them up-dated with the workings of the Browns quickly came to a halt. This article that has been tweeted and re-tweeted numerous times, and is headline news on Bleacher Reports' Cleveland Browns section is little more than a rumor.

According to The Associated Press, Cleveland Browns Team President Mike Holmgren has decided to fire head coach Eric Mangini following Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and take over the coaching duties himself.

After numerous searches for an article by AP regarding the firing, or up-coming firing of Mangini--I found nothing. However, I did find the article where this author quoted Browns QB Seneca Wallace, which is little more than Wallace stating that Holmgren may be "chomping at the bit" to coach again.

Will Mangini be fired after this Sundays' game--who knows--the author gave his source as AP, yet failed to supply a link.

So, my thirst to pass on info was halted, yet I felt the need to share my thoughts on this article. As of now--it is a rumor, not late breaking news.
